WAPPINGER — A Poughkeepsie man faces felony charges after being arrested for driving while intoxicated with three children in his vehicle, according to New York State Police.

Jordan T. White, 42, was stopped by a state trooper on Old Post Road in the Town of Wappinger at approximately 9:30 p.m. on April 18 for multiple traffic violations.

The trooper observed signs of intoxication while interviewing White, police said.

White failed standardized field sobriety tests administered at the scene.

Investigators discovered three children—ages 1, 8, and 12—were passengers in White’s 2016 Acura at the time of the stop.

White was taken into custody and transported to the State Police barracks in Wappinger for processing.

A breath test administered at the station revealed White had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.22%, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08%.

White was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger, commonly known as Leandra’s Law, an E felony.

Additional charges include Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor, and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

White was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Wappinger Court on April 29 at 5 p.m.
