UTICA — A man died after being shot late Tuesday night near the intersection of Kemble and Walker streets, according to Utica police.
Officers responded to the area at approximately 11:40 p.m. after a ShotSpotter notification detected multiple gunshots.
As police were en route, they observed a vehicle speeding away from the scene.
The vehicle proceeded to Wynn Hospital, where officers discovered a male passenger suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite emergency medical efforts by hospital staff, the victim died from his injuries.
Police are withholding the victim’s identity until family members have been notified.
The Utica Police Department Crime Scene Unit is processing multiple scenes related to the shooting.
The case has been assigned to the department’s Major Crimes Unit for investigation.
