ROCHESTER — A local man was cited for negligent operation after allegedly driving recklessly at the scene of a crash earlier this month.

Vermont State Police from the Royalton Barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 100 in Rochester at approximately 7:06 a.m. on April 1.

Upon arrival, troopers were informed by Rochester Fire Department personnel that the operator of the crashed vehicle had fled the scene.

Investigation revealed that Jared Arsenault, 46, of Rochester, had driven to the crash site and quickly picked up the operator of the crashed vehicle.

As Arsenault was leaving the scene, he allegedly drove partially off the roadway at a high rate of speed, passing around a fire truck and Rochester Fire Department members who were blocking the road due to the crash.

On April 22, Arsenault was issued a criminal citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Windsor Criminal Division to answer to the charge of Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, a violation of Title 23 VSA 1091.
