JAY — A local man is facing charges after allegedly stealing donated bottles and cans from a collection bin at the Jay Town Office.
Jeffery Rouleau, 54, of Jay, was issued a citation for petit larceny following an investigation by Vermont State Police.
Authorities were notified of the theft at approximately 1:46 p.m. on April 22.
Surveillance footage revealed Rouleau drove to the donation bin at least three times over a two-month period and loaded his truck with multiple bags of cans and bottles without permission, according to police.
Investigators determined Rouleau later redeemed the stolen items for cash at a bottle redemption center.
Rouleau is scheduled to appear in Orleans Superior Court to answer to the petit larceny charge.
