GUILDERLAND — A 54-year-old Guilderland man faces attempted murder charges after allegedly slashing another man during an altercation, police said Wednesday.
Douglas R. Martak was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into a violent incident that occurred Sunday at 3 Windingbrook Drive.
Police responded to a neighboring address at approximately 12:46 a.m. Sunday after receiving an emergency medical call for a 44-year-old male suffering from a laceration to his left side.
The victim, who sustained serious injuries to his back and abdomen area, was initially treated at the scene by Guilderland EMS before being transported to Albany Medical Center for further care.
Martak has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
Following his arraignment before Judge Tabak in Guilderland Town Court, Martak was remanded to the Albany County Jail.
