CABOT — A Marshfield man was arrested for driving under the influence after crashing his car and leaving the scene on Route 215 near the Marshfield town line.
The incident occurred April 22 at approximately 10:37 p.m., according to Vermont State Police from the Berlin Barracks.
Troopers responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash and discovered a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta had traveled off the east side of the roadway.
The vehicle struck a guardrail before coming to rest, sustaining moderate front-end damage.
The driver was not at the scene when authorities arrived and had not reported the crash to law enforcement.
Troopers later located the operator, identified as 20-year-old Ryan Lay of Marshfield, at his residence.
Officers observed signs of impairment and administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests before arresting Lay on suspicion of DUI.
Lay was transported to the Berlin Police Department for processing and later released with a citation.
He is scheduled to appear in Washington County Criminal Court on May 8 at 8:30 a.m. to face charges of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
