PORTSMOUTH — A 36-year-old Cranston man was arrested after allegedly sending inappropriate images and messages to a 14-year-old juvenile in Portsmouth.
Nicholas Antoniou was taken into custody April 17 at approximately 9:21 a.m. following an investigation by the Portsmouth Police Detective Division.
Investigators discovered evidence of online communication between Antoniou and the juvenile, according to police.
The Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Antoniou without incident in Cranston before transporting him to the Portsmouth Police Department.
During the investigation, detectives also found files containing child pornography on Antoniou’s electronic devices.
Antoniou was arraigned in the 2nd Division District Court on April 17 on two counts of Electronically Disseminating Indecent Material to a Minor and Possession of Child Pornography.
Bail was set at $5,000 with surety, and conditions prohibit him from having contact with minors and from using the internet, smartphones, or computers.
