BOSTON — A 29-year-old Boston woman faces human trafficking charges after allegedly attempting to sell a 15-year-old girl for sex at a local hotel.

Shakera “Stacks” Pina was arrested Wednesday, April 9, at approximately 9:45 p.m. following a joint operation by the Boston Police Human Trafficking Unit, Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit, Randolph Police Department, and the FBI Trafficking Task Force.

The investigation began when detectives discovered an online classified advertisement featuring photographs of a juvenile victim.

Undercover officers responded to the ad and arranged a meeting at a hotel to purchase sexual services involving the minor.

Investigators met the 15-year-old victim at the hotel room and identified themselves as law enforcement before transporting her to a local hospital for evaluation and care.

Police determined Pina had transported the victim to the location and was waiting nearby in a vehicle.

When officers attempted to stop Pina’s vehicle, she allegedly tried to flee before being quickly apprehended.

According to police, Pina attempted to destroy evidence and refused to comply with verbal commands before being taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle and Pina’s person yielded marijuana, a digital scale, U.S. currency in multiple denominations, and condoms.

Pina was arraigned in South Boston District Court on charges of human trafficking, deriving support from prostitution, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
