SAND LAKE — A Rensselaer woman faces multiple drug charges after a single-car crash early Friday morning in Sand Lake.
State Police arrested Ashley N. Bechand, 35, after responding to a crash on Best Road at 3:54 a.m. April 18.
Troopers found Bechand walking near the scene where her vehicle had gone off the roadway.
Upon taking her into custody for driving while impaired, officers discovered a glass smoking device containing drug residue and felony-weight narcotics in her possession.
Bechand was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, Driving While Impaired by Drugs and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
She was transported to State Police barracks in Schodack for processing, where authorities collected a blood sample to determine drug content.
Following arraignment at Rensselaer City Court, Bechand was released on her own recognizance.
