UTICA — A domestic dispute escalated into a confrontation with police Tuesday night when a woman allegedly threatened officers with a steak knife, according to Utica Police Department officials.
Officers responded to a residence for a report of an ongoing argument between a couple.
Upon arrival, police spoke with a male who stated he and his girlfriend were engaged in an argument that was still in progress.
When officers attempted to speak with the female, identified as Chanel King, 32, of Utica, she allegedly became verbally aggressive toward them.
Police say King then grabbed a steak knife and began approaching the officers in a threatening manner.
Officers drew their Tasers in response to the threat, and with assistance from King’s boyfriend, the knife was removed and King was taken into custody.
King was transported to the Utica Police Department where an investigator with the Criminal Investigations Division charged her with menacing a police officer and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
