TROY — Detectives are investigating the homicide of a 47-year-old man who was stabbed during an altercation early Monday at a Third Street address.
Troy Police patrol officers responded to 373 3rd Street around 7:45 a.m. Monday after receiving a report that a man had been stabbed.
Officers and Troy Fire Department personnel provided medical aid at the scene before the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
The suspect fled before police arrived, according to authorities.
Detectives and evidence technicians were called to the scene to continue the investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate the victim and suspect were involved in an altercation inside the building.
Police are following several active leads but have released limited details about the incident.
