Man arrested for waving chainsaw at Glens Falls protest

GLENS FALLS — A 62-year-old man was arrested Saturday after allegedly waving a chainsaw during a political protest in downtown Glens Falls.

Thomas J. Howard was taken into custody after police received multiple calls about a man brandishing a chainsaw in the air during the demonstration on Glen Street.

Officers from the Glens Falls Police Department responded to the scene and confirmed the chainsaw had a chain attached to the blade.

Howard was charged with menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation.

Police reported that Howard complied with officers’ orders and was taken into custody without incident.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Glens Falls City Court at a later date.

The incident occurred during a political protest in the downtown area around 11 a.m.
