3 arrested in Salem after traffic stop yields stolen gun, drugs

SALEM — State Police arrested three individuals and seized an illegally possessed firearm following a traffic stop on State Route 22 in Salem.

The arrests occurred after troopers stopped a vehicle at approximately 11:50 p.m. on April 15 for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.

The driver was identified as Lane R. Gibbs, 22, of Poultney, with passengers Jasmine Wendell, 37, of Poultney, and Lori A. Warner, 58, of Fairhaven.

During the stop, troopers observed multiple glass smoking devices containing drug residue in the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed Wendell illegally possessed a handgun that had been reportedly stolen, an illegal double-edged weapon, felony weight narcotics, psychedelic substances, and other drug paraphernalia.

Wendell faces multiple charges including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the second and third degrees, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree.

She was also charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree, three counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, and a Public Health Law violation.

Warner was arrested for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree and a Public Health Law violation.

Gibbs was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

All three were transported to SP Greenwich for processing.

Gibbs and Warner were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Salem Town Court on May 19 and released.

Wendell was transported to the Washington County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and remanded to the Washington County Correctional Facility without bail.
