Peekskill man faces drug charges after traffic stop

PEEKSKILL — A Peekskill man was arrested and charged with multiple felony drug offenses following a traffic stop Friday, April 18.

Officer Mark Frascello of the Peekskill Police Department conducted the stop at approximately 4:39 p.m. on the 1000 block of Park Street.

The driver, Kenyata Burnett, was initially stopped for aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, a violation of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

During the stop, officers discovered Burnett was allegedly in possession of approximately 3 grams of cocaine and 5.2 grams of MDMA.

Burnett was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, class B felonies, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony.

Following his arraignment, Burnett was released on his own recognizance.
