BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a Dorchester man Sunday after recovering multiple firearms and drugs following a violent struggle.

At about 12:40 p.m. on April 20, officers assigned to District B-3 in Mattapan arrested Kesner Forestdale, 20, on multiple firearm offenses.

Police were conducting surveillance as part of an active firearm investigation involving Forestdale when they observed him walking near Harvard Street and Standish Street carrying a black duffel bag.

Officers stopped the suspect in the area of Harvard Street and Bernard Street and attempted to search the bag when Forestdale tried to flee.

According to police, a violent struggle ensued during which Forestdale pushed an officer in the face before being subdued and handcuffed.

Officers recovered a Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 Rifle with twenty-two rounds in the magazine and a Springfield Armory XD9 handgun with sixteen rounds in the magazine from the duffel bag.

Multiple plastic bags containing drugs were also found in the suspect’s possession.

Forestdale faces multiple charges including unlawful possession of firearms, carrying a loaded rifle on a public way, possession of large capacity feeding devices, drug distribution charges, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
