HILLSBORO — A 42-year-old local man was arrested Monday after allegedly threatening to shoot a police officer, according to the Hillsboro Police Department.
Matthew Dillon of Hillsboro was taken into custody on charges of criminal threatening, breach of bail, and resisting arrest.
Police obtained a misdemeanor arrest warrant for Dillon after being alerted to posts he made indicating his intent to shoot an officer.
Dillon had been previously arrested on Saturday for traffic and drug-related offenses.
Officers from Hillsboro, Antrim, and Henniker, along with Hillsboro’s K9 unit, surrounded Dillon’s camper in the downtown area to execute the warrant.
Despite repeated announcements instructing him to exit, Dillon refused to comply for approximately 30 minutes before eventually surrendering.
He was taken into custody without further incident and held pending a court appearance on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
