WORCESTER — A 30-year-old Worcester man was arrested after allegedly robbing a 7-Eleven store on Main Street while armed with scissors early Saturday morning.

Charles Yawn of William Street was charged with armed robbery, assault and battery on a police officer, and an outstanding arrest warrant following the incident.

Worcester Police officers responded to the 7-Eleven at 1326 Main St. at about 3:25 a.m. on April 19 for a report of an armed robbery in progress.

Store employees reported that a man had entered the store, taken items he refused to pay for, displayed a knife to the clerk, and stolen money.

After reviewing surveillance footage, officers began searching the area and located Yawn on Main Street.

Officers recognized Yawn as matching the description of the suspect in the video and conducted a pat frisk.

During the arrest, Yawn allegedly struck one of the officers in the face with his knee before being taken to the ground and placed under arrest.

Police recovered a pair of scissors from Yawn during the arrest.
