WHEATFIELD — A brush fire that spread to a local business caused significant damage Sunday evening in Wheatfield.
The Niagara County Communications Center received a report of a possible brush fire at 2139 Lockport Road near railroad tracks at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Reports indicated the fire was in close proximity to the Blue Ox Roofing building.
Patrol units arriving at the scene confirmed an active fire near the railroad tracks that had spread to a large pile of pallets near the building.
A Fire Chief later confirmed the fire had reached the Blue Ox Roofing building, with heavy flames visible at the rear of the structure.
Fire crews from several local fire companies responded to the scene and brought the fire under control.
The Blue Ox Roofing building sustained damage, as did a vehicle registered to the business.
The Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
The total value of the damage is unknown at this time.
