MORRISVILLE — A Johnson man faces charges after Vermont State Police clocked him traveling at 87 mph in a 50 mph zone on VT Route 100 near Cochran Road.
Aydan Church, 22, was issued a criminal citation following the April 20 incident that occurred at approximately 7:39 p.m.
According to state police, a trooper from the Williston Barracks observed Church’s vehicle traveling southbound at a high rate of speed.
While the trooper was turning around to conduct a traffic stop, Church continued at high speed and passed several vehicles in what police described as a negligent manner.
Troopers located the vehicle shortly afterward at a residence on Lawrence Road in Morrisville.
Church received a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for violating Title 23 Section 1081(b) – Basic Rule, which carries 2 points and a $558 waiver fee.
He was also issued a criminal citation to appear at the Lamoille County Superior Court on June 4 to answer to charges of excessive speed and negligent operation.
