DOVER — The Dover Police Department is searching for a 46-year-old man who allegedly brandished a firearm during an argument and later fled from officers.
On Monday, April 21, at approximately 7:48 a.m., police responded to a reported disturbance in the area of Mineral Park Drive.
Multiple witnesses reported that a Black male displayed a firearm during an argument with another individual and provided a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle, including its license plate number.
A plainclothes Dover Police detective later spotted the suspect vehicle on Durham Road and attempted a traffic stop as the vehicle pulled into a residence at 102 Durham Road.
The suspect, identified as David Williams, a resident of the Durham Road address, exited the vehicle and fled into the home.
Officers established a perimeter around the property and activated the Strafford County Regional Tactical Operations Unit.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers entered the residence but found it unoccupied.
Investigators determined Williams had escaped through the rear of the property and into nearby woods before the perimeter could be fully secured.
Despite a thorough search using officers, a police canine, and drones, authorities determined Williams was no longer in the immediate area.
Police have recovered the handgun allegedly displayed by Williams during the initial incident.
Warrants have been issued charging Williams with Criminal Threatening, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Disobeying an Officer, and Resisting Arrest.
Dover High School and Dover Middle School had implemented a Secure Campus protocol during the incident, which has since been lifted.
Anyone with information about Williams’ whereabouts is asked to call the Dover Police Department at 603-742-4646 or the Dover Crimeline at 603-749-6000 for those wishing to remain anonymous.
