BOSTON — A 17-year-old male was arrested Saturday night after police discovered a loaded firearm and marijuana packaged for distribution during an incident at Franklin Park.

Officers from District B-2 responded to Franklin Park around 10 p.m. on April 19 to disperse numerous vehicles and groups congregating in the area.

As police activated emergency lights and sirens, they observed a male suspect run across traffic while clutching his waistband.

The juvenile fled to a vehicle and entered the back seat, but officers removed him before he could close the door.

During the removal, officers felt a firearm handle, which led to what police described as “a violent struggle” as the suspect refused to release the weapon.

After multiple verbal commands were ignored, officers successfully secured the firearm, which was identified as a Canik TP9-SFX loaded with one round in the chamber and sixteen rounds in the magazine.

A search following the arrest yielded a firearm laser attachment, 48 designer packaging bags of marijuana, and $685 in cash.

Additional firearm parts and ammunition were recovered from inside the vehicle.

The juvenile faces multiple charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm and feeding device, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession with intent to distribute Class D drugs, and resisting arrest.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
