ANNSVILLE — A 34-year-old man was arrested Saturday after barricading himself in a bedroom and threatening to burn down a residence while deputies were inside, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.

Deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic incident on Taberg Florence Road in the Town of Annsville at approximately 4:32 p.m.

Upon arrival, deputies found that Brian K. Platt of Annsville had barricaded himself in a bedroom with an open propane tank nearby.

While deputies were speaking with Platt, he made several threats to burn down the residence and attempted to start a fire inside the home.

After an unsuccessful taser deployment, deputies used pepper spray and were able to gain access to Platt.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

Platt was charged with attempted arson in the second degree, a class C felony; aggravated family offense, a class E felony; criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor; and harassment, a violation.

He was transported to the Law Enforcement Building for processing and will be held at the Oneida County Jail awaiting arraignment.
