BRAINTREE — Two men were arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting a Quincy man and stealing his car keys and phone at knifepoint near the Pond Street and Washington Street intersection.

Braintree Police responded to a report of a fight between two to three males shortly before 11 a.m. on April 19.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a 39-year-old Quincy man who reported being kicked and assaulted by two individuals known to him.

During the attack, one suspect produced a knife and took the victim’s car keys and phone before both suspects fled towards South Braintree Square.

An officer investigating the incident located and attempted to stop a person matching one suspect’s description, identified as Tyler Jeune-Joseph, 21, of Boston.

Jeune-Joseph fled but was quickly apprehended by police.

Based on witness statements, officers determined the second suspect, Steven Durrant, 20, of Braintree, had fled to his home on Hall Ave.

Officers attempted to make contact with Durrant at his residence but received no response.

Believing Durrant was inside, officers secured the scene and applied for a search warrant.

After several hours, the warrant was issued and officers again attempted to make contact.

As they entered the home, Durrant tried to exit the third floor via an exterior staircase but was challenged by a detective outside.

Durrant was taken into custody without incident shortly after 8 p.m.

Both men are charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod-foot), assault and battery, and armed robbery.
