VERONA — A Camillus woman faces drug charges after state police discovered crystal methamphetamine in a suspicious vehicle parked in Oneida County early Thursday morning.
Kimberlee Pontello, 37, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
Troopers from SP Oneida responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Senn Road in the Town of Verona at approximately 3:51 a.m. on April 17.
Upon arrival, officers interviewed the vehicle’s occupants—a male driver and Pontello, who was a passenger.
Troopers observed drug paraphernalia in plain view and requested both occupants exit the vehicle.
A subsequent search revealed a plastic container holding a substance later confirmed to be crystal methamphetamine.
Pontello claimed ownership of the drugs and was taken into custody without incident.
She was transported to SP Oneida for processing and released on an appearance ticket.
The investigation also revealed the vehicle had switched license plates and several vehicle and traffic law violations.
The driver, Gary J. Schapp, 43, of Munnsville, was issued multiple traffic tickets.
