ERWIN — New York State Police from SP Painted Post responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving an electric motorbike and a pickup truck on Victory Highway in the town of Erwin, Steuben County, at approximately 11:24 a.m. on April 19.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 19-year-old male operating an electric motorbike entered the roadway from an address on Victory Highway in Painted Post and failed to yield the right of way to an eastbound 2019 Dodge pickup truck hauling a trailer.
The pickup truck was operated by Christopher E. Tyler, 31, of Painted Post.
The e-bike collided with both the pickup truck and its trailer, according to police.
The 19-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Guthrie Corning Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Tyler was not injured in the collision.
The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
