SPRINGFIELD — A 39-year-old Springfield man faces charges of DUI-alcohol and cruelty to a child after employees at a local store reported an impaired customer driving away with a young child.
Christopher Pelletier was arrested on March 31 at 3:40 p.m. following a report from Ollies Bargain Outlet employees at approximately 3:03 p.m.
Store employees contacted the Springfield Police Department to report a customer who appeared impaired had left the store operating a motor vehicle with a young child.
Officers located the vehicle and identified Pelletier as the operator with a juvenile passenger inside.
According to police, Pelletier displayed “numerous clues of impairment” during the encounter.
Officers requested Pelletier undergo Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which revealed additional indicators of impairment.
Pelletier was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Department for processing.
He was issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit, on April 15 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charges.
