VERNON — Three women were arrested after allegedly shoplifting approximately $1,000 in merchandise from a CVS store in Vernon.

Police responded to the CVS on Talcottville Road at 12 a.m. on April 16 after employees reported observing three females stealing items from the store.

The suspects had left the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.

While searching the area, an officer located the suspects sitting in their vehicle parked behind a closed business.

Through investigation, the three individuals were positively identified as the suspects and subsequently arrested.

A search of the vehicle revealed nearly $10,000 in additional stolen merchandise, which police believe was taken from other drug and department stores.

Those arrested were Kamelia Johnson, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Raven Washington, 34, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Kayla Phillips, 28, of Linden, N.J.

All three women were charged with larceny in the fourth degree under Connecticut General Statute 53a-125.
