SALEM — Police are searching for a suspect following an armed robbery at a South Broadway convenience store early Friday morning.

At approximately 12:32 a.m. on Friday, April 18, the Salem Police Department received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery at 501 South Broadway.

According to police, a male suspect threatened a clerk and a bystander with an edged weapon and attempted to take the register drawer.

An altercation ensued between the suspect and both victims, continuing from inside the store into the parking lot.

The suspect, described as a white male wearing blue pajama pants and a grey shirt with a facial injury sustained during the altercation, fled the scene on a bicycle toward the state line.
