Nails found scattered across Falmouth streets

FALMOUTH — Officer Chapman of the Falmouth Police Department discovered hundreds of nails scattered across local roadways while on patrol at approximately 2 a.m. Monday.

The officer first noticed the nails while patrolling John Parker Road, according to police.

Officers then conducted a foot search of the surrounding area and found additional nails on Clark Street, Old Barnstable Road, and Prince Henry Drive.

Police reported that some nails had been deliberately positioned under vehicle tires in residential driveways.

With assistance from the Department of Public Works, officers collected a total of 478 nails from the affected streets.

The Falmouth Police Department is asking residents with information or camera footage related to the incident to contact Officer Chapman.
