BOSTON — A 26-year-old Boston woman was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly breaking into a Jamaica Plain business and attempting to flee with stolen merchandise.

At about 4 a.m. on April 18, officers from District E-13 responded to a report of a breaking and entering in progress at 321 Centre Street.

The victim had alerted police that someone was breaking into the rear of the business.

When officers arrived, they observed a female suspect exiting the rear door carrying a cash register drawer and pulling two shopping carts filled with merchandise.

The suspect, identified as Kora Banville, immediately fled when officers approached.

Following a foot pursuit, officers apprehended Banville in the area of Round Hill Street.

Police recovered all stolen items and returned them to the business.

Officers also found a large metal pipe at the scene and observed a broken rear window.

Banville was arrested and charged with unarmed breaking and entering in the nighttime.

Police discovered Banville had three outstanding warrants for various charges including possession of Class A drugs, shoplifting, larceny over $1,200, daytime breaking and entering for felony, and larceny from a building.

She is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
