ALBANY — A 27-year-old cold case involving the death of a newborn known as “Baby Moses” concluded Tuesday morning when Kerri Mazzuca was sentenced for her role in the infant’s death.
Mazzuca, who was identified as the mother of the deceased newborn, received her sentence in Albany County Court, bringing closure to one of the department’s longest-running investigations.
The resolution came through collaborative efforts of current and retired Albany Police Department officers, FBI agents, New York State Police investigators, and the Albany County District Attorney’s office.
Professors and students from The College of Saint Rose also contributed to solving the case, which authorities say had remained a priority for nearly three decades.
The case began in 1996 when the newborn’s body was discovered in Albany, prompting an investigation that would span more than a quarter century before reaching today’s conclusion.
Authorities did not immediately release details about the specific sentence Mazzuca received.
