PELHAM — Two people were seriously injured in separate crashes Thursday evening, according to the Pelham Police Department.
At approximately 6:21 p.m. on April 17, Pelham Police and Fire Department responded to a head-on collision near 65 Dutton Road.
Officers found two vehicles involved: a 2024 Ford Transit van operated by Joseph Covey, 38, of Pelham, and a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by Erica Hewitt, 52, also of Pelham.
Preliminary investigation indicates the Ford Transit van crossed the double yellow line and struck the Toyota Camry head-on.
Hewitt suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Covey sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention.
Later that evening, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Sergeant Donovan was returning from a Nashua Hospital when he observed a vehicle driving erratically on Keyes Hill Road.
As the officer activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop near Raymond Park, the operator lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle went off the road, rolled over several times, and landed in the front yard of 27 Keyes Hill Road.
When Sergeant Donovan reached the smoking, heavily damaged vehicle, he found the operator and his dog trapped inside, with the driver drifting in and out of consciousness.
Officers and a good Samaritan rescued the dog while Pelham Fire Department personnel extricated the operator, identified as Tyler Halley, 20, of Litchfield, from the 2014 Chevrolet Impala.
Halley was transported to a local hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.
The dog was taken to a local animal hospital for treatment.
Police indicated criminal charges are likely to follow in the second crash, which was captured on the officer’s dashboard camera.
Both accidents remain under investigation.
