WORCESTER — Worcester Police Department detectives assigned to the Gang Unit arrested a 26-year-old man on drug trafficking charges after finding more than 100 grams of suspected fentanyl-laced pills during a traffic stop.
On April 16 at approximately 5:42 p.m., detectives observed a vehicle with an operator known to have a warrant and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Main Street.
As the vehicle stopped, the passenger, identified as Alex Navarro of Worcester, ducked down toward the floor in front of the passenger seat.
When detectives approached the passenger side, Navarro attempted to take his sweatshirt from the front seat.
Detectives found a large quantity of pills packaged together in one of the sweatshirt pockets.
Further investigation determined the pills were an illicit substance, suspected to be fake oxycodone pills cut with fentanyl.
The pills weighed 101.4 grams.
Navarro was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Class A Substance (100-200 Grams).
The driver, 22-year-old Christian Gonzalez of Worcester, was arrested on the warrant.
