BETHLEHEM — A routine traffic stop led to a felony drug arrest when Bethlehem police discovered a controlled substance in a vehicle early Thursday.
Amar H. Mehsin, 18, of Albany, was arrested after being pulled over for a Vehicle and Traffic Law infraction on State Route 9W near Bender Lane at 12 a.m. April 17.
During the investigation, officers found Mehsin in possession of over one gram of khat, a controlled substance containing cathinone, a Schedule 1 stimulant under Public Health Law.
Mehsin was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a class C felony.
He was arraigned in Town of Guilderland Court and released under the supervision of Albany County Probation.
Mehsin is scheduled to appear in Town of Bethlehem Court on May 20 at 4 p.m.
