PITTSFIELD — A 45-year-old Pittsfield man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly fleeing a domestic violence incident where police say he displayed a firearm.

Officers responded to a call at approximately 9 p.m. on April 16 regarding a domestic violence incident involving suspect Terrell Ortiz.

During their initial investigation, police determined that a firearm had been displayed during the altercation and that Ortiz had fled on foot, potentially still armed.

Multiple units from the Pittsfield Police Department conducted an area search and located Ortiz on Francis Avenue.

An officer reported observing Ortiz enter a nearby driveway prior to police contact, though a pat frisk for weapons yielded negative results.

A police K9 unit was called to perform an article search of the area where Ortiz was seen before contact with officers.

Following the search, officers located a loaded handgun that was later determined to have been reported stolen from Clarksburg, Massachusetts in 2017.

Ortiz was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a family household member, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and receiving stolen property.

Police held Ortiz on $5,000 bail and transported him to Pittsfield District Court on April 17 for arraignment.
