CHELSEA — A 33-year-old Chelsea resident is in critical condition after being shot in the head Wednesday night, according to police.
Chelsea Police officers responded to Webster Avenue and Broadway around 10 p.m. for a report of a possible stabbing victim.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim on the ground with a significant head injury from a single gunshot.
Chelsea Fire and EMS transported the victim to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
The victim remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Chelsea Detectives collected ballistic evidence at the scene and are canvassing the area for video footage.
Due to the severity of the injuries, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene along with Crime Scene Services.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
