GUILFORD — A local resident was arrested after allegedly causing a three-car accident while attempting to evade police, according to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
Kenyon P. Pickens, 19, of Guilford, was charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree following the April 11 incident.
Sheriff’s deputies said Pickens accelerated his vehicle and drove recklessly to avoid being stopped by a marked patrol unit for vehicle and traffic law violations.
During the pursuit, Pickens allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and did not yield to traffic, resulting in a serious three-car collision at the intersection of State Highway 8 and County Road 37.
Pickens was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
He is scheduled to appear in Guilford Town Court at a later date.
