FAIRFIELD — The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Wednesday at a Crane Drive residence, seizing over 370 grams of fentanyl and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $40,000.
The raid, conducted at 5:45 a.m. April 16, followed a month-long investigation into alleged drug trafficking at the location.
Sheriff’s officials arrested three individuals on aggravated drug trafficking charges and issued a summons to a fourth person.
George Walker, 34, of New York, was charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and violation of conditions of release.
Walker was already out on bail and had outstanding arrest warrants in Cumberland and Franklin counties for drug trafficking offenses.
Olguita Colon, 42, of New York, and Margaret Visconti, 41, of Fairfield, were each charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.
Julia Maxim, 31, of Burnham, received a summons for unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
The search team, led by Detective Lieutenant Carl Gottardi II, included sheriff’s detectives, patrol deputies and Waterville police detectives.
Officials seized over 370 grams of fentanyl and crack cocaine, controlled pills, a large bottle of chloroform, $15,932 in suspected drug proceeds, digital scales, and drug-related documentation and paraphernalia.
The drug charges against Walker, Colon and Visconti were aggravated due to the quantity of drugs seized.
Sheriff Lancaster warned that recent investigations have revealed drug traffickers are lacing crack cocaine with fentanyl without informing customers, increasing the risk of dependency and overdose.
Officials noted that the amount of fentanyl seized represents approximately 185,000 potential lethal doses, with just 2 milligrams considered potentially deadly.
Additional charges may be forthcoming after review by the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office.
Walker, Colon and Visconti are scheduled to appear at the Somerset County Unified Criminal Court at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 6.
