ST. JOHNSBURY — A local woman has been cited for child cruelty following an investigation that began with a sexual assault case.
Sharon Noyes, 45, of St. Johnsbury, was issued a citation on April 16 for cruelty to a child, according to the St. Johnsbury Police Department.
Police said the citation stems from incidents that allegedly occurred in spring 2023, when Noyes knowingly exposed children under her care to “unnecessary suffering.”
The investigation began after Aaron Rowell was arrested in March for sexual assault on a child under the same case number.
Authorities said they found probable cause that Noyes had allowed children to suffer “by the hands of Rowell.”
Noyes is scheduled to appear in Caledonia Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on May 5.
