BOW — A collision between a propane truck and a tractor-trailer Tuesday led to a temporary shutdown of Interstate 93 after the propane vehicle rolled over and began leaking fuel.
The crash occurred at 1:37 p.m. near mile marker 33 on I-93 northbound when a 2023 Freightliner propane truck was struck from behind while slowing for traffic congestion.
Donald Filteau, 63, of Bedford, was driving the propane truck in the middle lane when it was hit by a tractor-trailer operated by Utkir Rakhimov, 45, of Southington, Connecticut, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The impact caused Filteau to lose control, sending the propane truck off the right side of the highway where it rolled onto its side.
A small brush fire ignited following the rollover, and the tanker began leaking from its approximately 128-gallon propane load.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of I-93 were temporarily closed as a precautionary measure while emergency crews responded.
The Bow Fire Department, Central New Hampshire Hazardous Materials Team, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation assisted state troopers at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
