Pittsfield man arrested after early morning stabbing

PITTSFIELD — A 40-year-old Pittsfield man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly stabbing a 60-year-old man at a multi-family dwelling on Woodlawn Avenue.

Officers with the Pittsfield Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 2:52 a.m. on April 16 following reports of a stabbing incident.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from at least one stab wound.

The victim was transported to Berkshire Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries but is expected to survive.

Jason Wright was arrested later that morning and charged with Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery on a Person aged 60 or Over.

Investigators believe Wright and the victim were known to one another.
