SCIPIO — A Fulton man faces multiple charges including driving while intoxicated after deputies observed him operating a vehicle with a blown tire in Cayuga County.

Samuel E. Gerbig, 58, was arrested at 1:56 a.m. April 13 on Route 34B near Ridge Road in Scipio, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.

Deputies first noticed Gerbig’s vehicle crossing the yellow center line at 1:38 a.m.

The vehicle was being driven with a blown rear left tire and had damage to the driver’s side mirror, prompting deputies to conduct a traffic stop.

He faces charges of DWI (first offense), operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1% or more alcohol (first offense), both A misdemeanors, and aggravated unlicensed operator in the first degree, an E felony.

Gerbig was also cited for additional vehicle and traffic violations.

He was arraigned at CAP court at 7 a.m. April 13 and released on his own recognizance.

Gerbig is scheduled to appear in Town of Scipio Court at 6 p.m. April 21.
