CORTLANDVILLE — A driver was trapped after their vehicle struck a garbage truck Wednesday morning on Route 281 near Lankler Drive in the Town of Cortlandville.
The Cortlandville Fire Department, TLC-EMS, and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene at 8:42 a.m. on April 16.
Firefighters confirmed upon arrival that the single occupant of the vehicle was trapped.
Using Holmatro rescue tools, firefighters removed the roof and driver’s side door and pushed the dashboard up to free the occupant.
The City of Cortland Fire Department was called to assist with the extraction.
The driver was freed from the vehicle within 35 minutes and transported to Upstate Medical Center for treatment.
Assisting agencies included the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, City of Cortland Fire Department, SUNY Cortland Police, and TLC EMS.
