BRAINTREE — A driver was transported to a local hospital after crashing into a utility pole in front of 317 Hancock St. early Monday morning.
A Braintree Police officer on patrol discovered the crash around 2:15 a.m.
The driver allegedly dozed off behind the wheel before drifting off the roadway and striking the pole.
The crash also damaged an underground gas utility line when the car bottomed out on the sidewalk, striking a service connection.
Crews from Braintree Electric Light Department and National Grid responded to make the necessary repairs.
The driver will be issued several citations as a result of the crash.
