UTICA — Utica police charged a Yorkville man after a property dispute at a local hotel escalated with the display of a hatchet, authorities said.
Police responded at approximately 11:00 a.m. March 29 to a report of a verbal altercation in the hotel parking lot stemming from a physical confrontation the previous night.
The complainants told officers that the individual involved in the earlier conflict approached them again, leading to another argument.
During this second encounter, the suspect allegedly brandished a hatchet and threatened the complainants before leaving the scene.
Police identified the suspect based on information from the previous incident and assigned the case to the Criminal Investigations Division.
On April 14, Brad Kohler, 44, of Yorkville was charged with menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
