Southport man held on fugitive warrant for Pa. DUI charge

1 min read

ELMIRA — The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Benjamin D. White, 21, of Southport, as a fugitive from justice out of Bradford County, Pa.

Authorities say White is wanted on a charge of failure to appear, with a lead offense of driving under the influence of a controlled substance—schedule 1, first offense—in violation of Pennsylvania law.

On April 14, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division received a warrant from Bradford County requesting that White, already an incarcerated individual at Chemung County Jail, be held on the out-of-state warrant.

White was arrested and processed as a fugitive from justice.

He was arraigned by Chemung County Court and remanded back to the jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
