Multi-vehicle crash on I-95 in Kennebunk sends two to hospital

KENNEBUNK — A three-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 Monday morning left one person seriously injured and closed the northbound lanes for approximately two hours.

Maine State Police Troop G responded to the crash at mile marker 23 northbound at approximately 8:48 a.m.

According to the initial investigation, a 2019 Nissan SUV operated by Kelly Adams, 45, of Lebanon, Maine, rear-ended a 2022 Toyota SUV before striking a 2004 Freightliner tractor trailer that was legally stopped in the breakdown lane.

Adams sustained significant injuries and was transported to Maine Medical Center in serious condition.

The driver of the Toyota SUV was also transported to Maine Medical Center for evaluation.

The tractor trailer driver was not injured in the crash.

No charges have been issued, but the case will be reviewed by the York County District Attorney’s Office.

Northbound traffic was diverted off at Exit 19 in Wells during the closure.

Wells Fire Department, Wells EMS, Maine Turnpike Maintenance, National Towing, Southern Maine Towing, and Chandlers Towing assisted Maine State Police at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
