COLCHESTER — A Stamford man was arrested Sunday night on a charge of criminal possession of a forged instrument following a traffic stop in Colchester.
Delaware County sheriff’s deputies were patrolling State Highway 206 on the night of April 6 when they observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker and an illegal license plate cover.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 41-year-old Neiser Hilario-Sanchez of Stamford, Connecticut.
During the investigation, deputies determined that Hilario-Sanchez was using a fraudulent Connecticut temporary license plate obtained over the internet.
Hilario-Sanchez was arrested and charged with one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor.
He was also issued traffic summonses for improper plates, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating an uninspected motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and an obstructed plate.
After arrest processing, Hilario-Sanchez was released on appearance tickets and traffic summonses.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Colchester Court at a later date.
