PUTNAM — A 27-year-old Putnam man was arrested on charges of operating under the influence after allegedly driving his vehicle into a local park, damaging the lawn.
On April 6 at approximately 7:58 p.m., Putnam Police officers were at Riverfront Commons on Kennedy Drive responding to an unrelated incident when they were flagged down by an individual reporting an intoxicated driver in the parking lot.
Officers located the vehicle as it was leaving the parking lot and initiated a traffic stop on Massicotte Circle.
The vehicle continued westbound on Massicotte Circle, crossed Kennedy Drive and drove into Rotary Park, causing damage to the lawn.
Officers made contact with the operator, identified as Tyler Roussin of Woodstock Ave., Putnam.
During their interaction with Roussin, officers observed indicators of impairment and asked him to perform a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.
According to police, Roussin did not complete the testing to standard and was subsequently arrested for Operating under the Influence and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.
Roussin was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on April 16.
