NORWALK — A 52-year-old Norwalk man died after his moped was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of West Avenue and Reed Street early Sunday morning.
Norwalk Combined Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting the accident at 3:51 a.m. on April 13.
Norwalk Police, Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk Hospital Emergency Medical Services were immediately dispatched to the scene and began providing medical aid to the moped operator, identified as Jose Olavarria.
Olavarria was transported to Norwalk Hospital by ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The operator of the vehicle remained on scene.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit responded along with the Crime Scene Unit to process the scene.
Crash Reconstruction Unit Officers are actively investigating the incident.
